Before and After My Hair Transplant Journey with byhairclinic
For years, getting a hair transplant was something I kept thinking about but could never fully commit to. Like many men approaching their 40s, I was losing a significant amount of hair, and it was really starting to affect how I felt about myself. Every time I looked in the mirror or at old photos, I felt a growing sense of frustration. My self-confidence was slowly fading along with my hair.
I tried to manage it for a while with temporary solutions like hair fibers and hats, but eventually even that wasn’t enough. I realized it was time to take action and look for a permanent solution.
Knowing that Turkey is one of the leading countries in the world when it comes to hair transplantation gave me confidence. The real challenge, though, was finding the right clinic and the right team to trust. That’s when I heard about byhairclinic through a friend who had undergone a hair transplant there and was incredibly happy with the results. After seeing his transformation in person, I decided to contact them myself.
First Impressions
From the very first phone call, Dr. Bilgehan was kind, informative, and professional. He invited me to the clinic for a consultation. Located in Bakırköy, Istanbul, byhairclinic is a clean, modern, and welcoming place. During my in-person consultation, they carefully examined my hair, explained the entire procedure in detail, and answered all my questions patiently. I left that meeting feeling confident and excited for the upcoming operation.
The Big Day
The big day finally arrived – February 27, 2017. I was welcomed by a warm and friendly team. After initial preparations, including blood tests and PRP treatment, it was time for the procedure.
Since my transplant would be done using the FUE method, the donor area (the back of my head) was locally anesthetized. I have to admit, the needle injections during the anesthesia phase were a bit painful, but it was over quickly. Interestingly, I found out during a later visit that the clinic now uses a needle-free anesthesia device, which makes the process virtually pain-free. Once the anesthesia kicks in, you don’t feel anything – it really becomes a comfortable experience.
They extracted 4,500 grafts from my donor area. After a short break for food and rest, Dr. Bilgehan carefully designed my new hairline and opened the channels where the grafts would be implanted. This stage took about an hour and was, in my opinion, one of the most important parts of the entire process.
After that, I lay back and relaxed while the team implanted the hair follicles into the opened channels. This part took around three hours and was surprisingly easy – I even watched TV during the procedure.
Post-Op Recovery & Results
The operation was done, and I went home with detailed instructions. The recovery was smooth, and the clinic guided me through every step:
Day 2: Quick follow-up visit and dressing
Day 3: First hair wash at the clinic (about 40 minutes)
Days 4–9: Continued washing at home as instructed
Day 10: Final wash to remove scabs
Month 1: “Shock loss” phase begins – transplanted hairs fall out (normal and temporary)
Month 2: PRP treatment session
Month 3: New hairs start to grow in slowly
Month 6: Mesotherapy session – hair is now long enough to style
Month 8: Final PRP treatment
The Result – Beyond My Expectations
Now, every time I look in the mirror, I’m reminded of how far I’ve come. My new hairline looks natural, the density is great, and people can’t even tell I had a transplant. That’s the biggest compliment of all. It didn’t just change how I look – it changed how I feel about myself.
